I created a test run based on a test plan, and later had to add some new test cases manually. When I added these, they were automatically assigned to “owner” (the person who created the test case).
While this feature request might be phrased as: “Have manually added test cases follow the setting for the given test run when it comes to default assignment”, I find that every time we create a test run based on test plans, we always choose “not assigned” in the “Assign to”-field.
Thus: Could the default option for test runs be that tasks are assigned to “not assigned”, instead of “owner”? If not, could you make it possible for users to change this in a setting somewhere? (If that is already possible, please point me in the right direction.

Hi,
First of all, it’s currently not possible to change this setting, so you’ll need to work around it at the moment by bulk-editing the test cases after adding them to the test run and setting them to “not assigned”.
As you’ve already said, it comes down to two separate problems:
- Choose who is assigned when adding test cases to a test run
- A project/organization setting for a default value for assignees and/or changing the current default option
I’ve added it to our backlog, but I can’t promise any release date yet.
Once again, thanks for your valuable feedback and best regards,
Hanna

Thanks for the reply, Hanna.
I can only speak for myself and my team, but I suspect the quickest fix (which would cover most of our needs) would be to simply change the default value from owner to not assigned when creating test runs from test plans.
